About
Hi, my name is Feras Alkharboush, a serious hobbyist of magic. I started learning magic 3 years ago, with Royal Road to Card Magic by Hugard and Braue, then Expert Card Technique, then works of Dai Vernon Ed Marlo, Paul Harris and many others. I enjoy reading old card magic books, since I personally think that currently we are only taking Vernon’s and Marlo’s work and ignoring people like Fred Braue and Arther Buckley, which their work is joy to read and excute.
Currently, in technique, I’m heavily influenced by the work of Marlo and Guy Hollingworth ( in other words, tabled palms ). In magic analysis, I love Derren Brown’s thinking ( since I also think this way, I was rather suprised when reading his book Pure Effect! Henning Nelm’s Magic and Showmanship for Magicians is a great book too ), Vernon’s stories and ideas never cease to amaze me, Eugene Burger’s philosophy is something I love to read.
My problem is I only met a magician once, an experience which elevated my understand of magic to a new level ( if I didn’t see him, I’d be still a crappy magi ). Thankfully, I’ve have great friends who I got to know through magic forums ( the old Ellusionist’s forums had the biggest impact, so is the Magic Cafe ).
I work alot of presentation as well as technique. I like to practice hard sleights and I love to rehearse especially in my car (!). I hate nothing more than seeing a card technique executed poorly, or a magician ignoring his spectator completely and performing for himself, sticking to his script like a stone without interacting with his audience. You will notice that I love analyzing card problems and technique, as I enjoy the intellectual side of magic, as well as the technical side. Unfortunately, my card magic suffers from small breaks here and there, because of being busy in college ( Medical School ).
I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts and ideas. Keep in mind that although I claim no originality in any of the ideas mentioned, but unless mentioned in the post, everything you read here comes from my head. I’ll post every Friday and Sunday, so if you decided to follow the posts of the blog, be sure to check in these 2 days. I hope you will find your time well spent. I will write reviews, thoughts, analysis, scripts, and ideas. I have a youtube channel, which I will upload my videos on, www.youtube.com/user/Medifro
